Don’t Tell Me I Can’t Fly

I used to want to get away

I used to want to run from the pain

from all the things that sought to

confuse,

instill hate into my spirit,

I wanted to run from seeds that had taken root…

and then I found it

in the dark pouring rain hiding

under the garden benches of central park

I had finally found what I was looking for

curled into a ball failing to keep herself warm

I found her waiting

every dream, every hope, every ounce of love

i had discarded and run from

I found waiting exactly where I had left it…

Forgiving my self in dead of night,

blessed

Lets rise beloved, lets rise so high that we fly

– ode to self
